What is Personal Care?

Personal care under the NDIS covers everyday tasks that support your health, hygiene, and comfort — like showering, dressing, grooming, and toileting. At BriighterCare, we take this one step further by offering personal care that is clinically informed, thoughtfully planned, and always delivered with compassion.

Whether you need light-touch assistance or full support with complex routines, all personal care at BriighterCare is planned and overseen by our Clinical Specialist, Registered Nurse Bronwyn Munford, with care plans written and reviewed regularly to ensure your support stays relevant, respectful, and safe.

Personal Care Assistance

Our personal care services are always tailored to the individual and delivered with dignity, consistency, and compassion. Supports may include:

  • Showering and bathing
  • Dressing and grooming
  • Oral hygiene
  • Skin care and pressure area care
  • Toilet support, transfers, and prompting
  • Continence and pad changes
  • Assistance with eating and drinking
  • Meal preparation and food support as part of your daily routine
  • Medication prompting and assistance
  • Mobility and repositioning support
  • Hoist transfers and manual handling support
  • Bowel care (including complex bowel routines)
  • Catheter care and support (IDC and SPC)
  • Stoma support (colostomy or ileostomy)
  • PEG feeding assistance and support tasks
  • Attending and assisting with therapies

All personal care plans are written and reviewed regularly in collaboration with you and our Registered Nurse. This ensures your care always reflects your current needs, preferences, and goals — supporting you to feel safe, respected, and fully involved in every decision.

Complex tasks are monitored and overseen for safety and compliance. All clients have 4 weekly check ins with our Care Manager.

You’re always matched with a support worker who fits your needs, goals, and personality. We take the time to understand your preferences so every session feels comfortable, consistent, and built on trust.

We work closely with your existing support team  to ensure your care is consistent and adaptable. We don’t just set up support and disappear. We grow with you, adjust when your needs change, and stay actively involved to make sure your care always feels right.
